MEC VISITS ZIPITYOLO VILLAGE ALONG THE BANKS OF KEI RIVER

Eastern Cape Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform (DRDAR) MEC Xolile Nqatha visited Zipityolo Village along the banks of Kei River.

This was a follow up visit as MEC Nqatha visited the area on 31 January 2019, to engage the community about plans of DRDAR to revamp the irrigation programme on the banks of Kei River. MEC Nqatha then committed DRDAR to start the clearing of the fields by March, adding that this will start in small-scale and people will be provided with seedlings to plant the cleared fields.

Today, MEC returned to the village to hand over tools for the clearing of the fields. The Department hired fifty (50) people from the village to start the clearing of the fields from 2 May 2019.

MEC Nqatha also donated five blankets to five elderly women who were part of the meeting.
